Camp Site Review: Hilton Head Harbor RV Resort

Hilton Head Harbor Entrance Sign - The Family GlampersWe just returned home from our Spring Break trip to Hilton Head Harbor RV Resort, on Hilton Head Island, S.C.

This was our first time at the resort, and I can say without reservation, it currently holds the top-ranked places we’ve glamped so far.

We stayed Tuesday through Sunday the first week in April, so temperatures were still a bit on the chilly side. I’d love to go back when it’s warmer and take advantage of the resort’s two saltwater pools! One pool sits right on the Intracoastal Waterway, offering incredible views while you lounge.

Hilton Head Harbor RV Resort is different from other places we’ve camped, in that each site pad is privately owned. When you arrive at the front office, you pull off to the side, and then take a golf cart around the resort where you can then select which site you’d like to park.

Since each site is independently owned, they each offer their own landscaping elements – some have waterfalls, some have patio furniture, some have fire pits. (You can, however, rent a charcoal grill and fire pit from the office if the site you choose doesn’t have these items).

Some sites overlook the Intracoastal Waterway, while the other sites are on the interior of two loops. There are two bathhouses, one in the center of the resort, and one near the front office.

There’s also a boat marina adjacent to the resort, if you wanted to charter a fishing expedition. A water sports company allows you to rent kayaks, stand up paddle boards and jet skis. (Again, because it was still a bit chilly we didn’t get to take advantage of this, but I love that it’s right there on site for you!).

The resort management comes around frequently to pick up bagged trash from each site, and landscapers are constantly keeping the place nice and tidy.

It’s a quiet resort, with most people keeping to themselves. The boys absolutely loved being able to walk over to the basketball court area, which also includes a playground and a picnic area.

Hilton Head Harbor also offers a very strong WiFi signal all over the park, as well as complimentary cable access at each site. Each site also provides a full hook up, as well as 50-amp connections.

The Sunset Grille is a 5-star restaurant right on the premises. Reservations are encouraged. We had the most remarkable meal there. Sheila, the hostess, was able to fit our group of 10 (us plus our cousin’s family) for dinner on a Saturday night. She was super helpful and friendly. And while it was raining the night we went, we’ve heard the sunsets from this venue are amazing (hence, the name).

And while the sunsets might be nice, don’t overlook the sunrises, either! My husband is an early riser, so he was able to snap some amazing sunrise pictures over the harbor — and he even spotted a few dolphins! We also saw dolphins several times while we were there.

The Family Glampers take on Hilton Head for Spring Break!

We had SUCH an amazing time at Hilton Head Harbor RV Resort. Because Spring Break, Easter and the area’s annual golf tournament, The Heritage, were around this time, the island was PACKED! It was nice to have a quiet area we could retreat after spending a day at the beach or at the crowded Sea Pines and Harbor Town areas.

If you’re looking for an incredibly well-maintained, easy-to-access RV resort with all the amenities, please consider visiting here. Until next time!
