Campground Review: Anchor Down RV Resort

Anchor Down RV Resort

It took us over a year to finally secure a spot at the coveted Anchor Down RV Resort in Dandridge, TN, and we can tell you……it was definitely worth the wait!

This lakeside RV resort has only been open for seven years, but it’s already built up a devoted following. Besides having Douglas Lake and the Smoky Mountains as your backdrop, you’re only a hop, skip and a jump from all of the Eastern Tennessee attractions, such as The Island in Pigeon Forge, Dollywood, Gatlinburg and Great Smoky Mountain National Park.

We visited over Halloween weekend, when the weather was turning cooler and the leaves were in their peaking glory. (Pro tip: Anchor Down has an AWESOME trick or treating event for your little ghosts and goblins if you decide to plan your visit over this holiday! Plus, you never know who you’ll meet while you’re there!).

Anchor Down RV Resort Halloween
We bumped into Cousin Eddie out trick or treating during the Halloween festivities at Anchor Down RV Resort in Dandridge, TN!

But since the weather was cooler, the pool and lake activities were shut own for the season. Walking the grounds, you could envision how much fun this place must be in the warmer months.

You’re steps away from the lake, which offers a beach access, boat docks and pontoon rentals, paddle boards and kayaks. There’s also a playground, and a pool with waterslide and canteen action. On the other side of the property is a well-kept dog park, full basketball court, gaga ball pit and pickle ball court. Golf carts are available to rent during your stay, or you can bring your own.

Anchor Down RV Resort also offers a laundry facility, as well as bath houses situated throughout. The bathroom facilities are incredibly clean, with each ” private suite” offering a shower, toilet and sink area. This is truly “glamping.”

The RV resort’s Wi-Fi signal was the strongest I’ve experienced during our camper travels. We weren’t able to stream Netflix, but we listened to music and never had a signal drop. Each site also offers a cable connection, and full water, sewer and electricity hook up.

The favorite part about our site was the stone fireplace. Not every site had this feature (sites without a fireplace did offer a fire pit), so make sure to check if this is something you’d like to have when you visit. But with the cool nights, it was wonderful to sit outside next to the fireplace, relaxing while we listened to music.

Anchor Down’s RV hosts were incredibly helpful and were constantly zooming around on golf carts picking up trash and making sure everything was in tip top shape. We were so sad to be leaving that we scoured our calendars to see when we could book our next reservation, and almost everything we looked at was already booked! The reservation specialist in the front office said they do accept reservations up to two years in advance ….. so if you’re the planning type, we would recommend booking your site earlier than later!

Make Anchor Down one of your must-visit places during your next RV or travel trailer adventure. It quickly became one of our favorites!
