Go take a hike to Rainbow Falls

One of the most amazing things about living in Greenville, SC, is how close we are to some incredible hiking trails.

Forget access to the Appalachian Trail (which runs right above our neck of the woods), there are dozens of great day hikes in our area, most of which are moderate enough for the whole family to enjoy.

We’re working on a post of our Top 10 S.C. day hikes for families which we will post soon! But one hike to get you started is Rainbow Falls in Jones Gap State Park in Marietta, SC.

This is a 5-mile round trip hike that’s marked as moderate to strenuous. It’s definitely got some steep inclines and rocky areas. But at the pinnacle of the hike, is an amazing waterfall – Rainbow Falls – that’s the perfect reward.

On a hot day, it feels wonderful to slip off your hiking shoes and put your feet in the cool mountain water at the base of the falls. If you’re brave enough, you can even climb up about midway into the falls and let the water cascade around you. (Please pay attention to marked signs, though! The rocks are very slippery).

This is a great day hike for families. We promise it will become one of your all time favorites!
